For most young people, summer is associated with travel, new experiences, and adventure. However, graduates of residential care institutions are often deprived of the opportunity to independently plan their vacations, choose destinations that interest them, and travel on their own.
The “Summer of Adventures – 2026” project is designed to give young people with a background in institutional care the freedom to choose their own summer travel experience while creating positive memories that contribute to their social integration and personal development.
Implementation Period: July–August 2026 Thanks to generous support from Eugien Hlywa Fund.
Goal
To provide graduates of residential care institutions, aged 18–35, with the opportunity to independently choose a tourist trip based on their own interests and preferences.
Target Group
• Graduates of residential care institutions;
• Young adults with lived experience of orphanhood, aged 18 and older;
• Participants in the programs of Orphans Future.
Each participant will have the opportunity to choose one one-day or two-day tour from the travel itineraries offered by the tour company Viki Tour.
Participants may:
• Travel independently;
• Invite 2–3 friends who are also current or former residents of residential care institutions and participants in Orphans Future programs;
• Select the destination that best matches their interests from the tours available through Viki Tour.
Budget: The foundation will cover the cost of one or two trips for each participant, up to UAH 2,800 per participant. The total project budget will depend on the number of participants.
Expected Outcomes:
• At least 15 young adults will have the opportunity to take a trip they have always dreamed of.
• Participants will gain practical experience in making independent decisions and planning their leisure time.
• Young people will expand their social networks and build new relationships.
• Participants will create positive life memories and develop greater motivation for an active and engaged lifestyle.
• Young adults will experience the support and care of their community and generous donors.
Project Uniqueness
Unlike traditional group excursions, this project does not impose a single travel format on participants. Instead, each young man or woman is free to choose the destination that reflects their own dreams, interests, and aspirations. This personalized approach encourages responsibility, independence, and the ability to make informed choices—essential life skills for successful adulthood.
