Not a Material, but an Emotional St. Nicholas Day Experience That Will Leave a Lasting Memory for the Children

"A Trip to Lviv for St. Nicholas Day" reminded us all that the most valuable gift can be an experience: the experience of connection, the experience of discovery, the experience of feeling part of something greater. This day gave these 30 children not things, but a sense of belonging, the joy of new discoveries, and faith in kindness. And that is the strongest foundation for the future.

Heartfelt laughter, open arms, and shining eyes—this is how the day looked for 30 children from Berezhany, Novе Selo, and Ternopil who took part in a special journey to celebrate St. Nicholas Day in the city of Lviv. The initiative, launched by the "Future for Orphans" Charitable Foundation, became not a material, but an emotional holiday experience that will stay in these children’s memories for a long time.

The bus tour from "Viki Tour," made possible by the heartfelt donations of our benefactors, turned into a real journey through time and space. The children didn't just "see" Lviv—they felt its pulse. But the brightest emotions came from the interactive visit to the Museum of Science. There, through play and experiments, all barriers disappeared. While exploring the laws of physics, creating clouds, or playing with optical illusions, children from different corners of the region formed teams, helped each other, and shared their excitement. It was the joy of discovery—not only scientific but also the discovery of new friendships.

The second stop on the itinerary was a visit to the St. Nicholas House of Mercy, where the children were awaited by Father Roman Prokopets, volunteers, and St. Nicholas himself. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and acceptance. Around the shared table, over treats, stories, laughter, and heartfelt conversations could be heard. For many of these children, this experience became a lesson in selfless care and socialization in a safe, supportive environment. More important than the candy wrapped in paper was the feeling that they were welcome guests—that their feelings and joy mattered to someone.

The final highlight was a visit to the Christmas and New Year village at Emily Resort. Thanks to the partner and friends of the "Center for Orphan Care," the children enjoyed dinner and immersed themselves in the magic of twinkling lights and the scent of the fir tree, which created the feeling of a true holiday where everyone together enjoyed the magic of preparing for Christmas.

*"I've never been in such a big city! There are so many people here, and everyone is smiling," shares 12-year-old Serhiy.*

*"The best part was when we all did experiments together at the Museum of Science," rejoices 9-year-old Sofiyka.*
